Seize The Birthday - Coordinating Card and Tag
Hey peeps, we've got a new challenge for you at Seize The Birthday, and this time Jules has given it a bit of a twist - she wants us to create a coordinating tag and card. It's pretty easy to do because you've already got everything you need all over your desk, ha!
This card was inspired by this journal spread by Vicki Papaioannou. I loved the Stamperia stencil, so I had to order it immediately, and I love it even more in real life. The sundae and macarons are from STAMPlorations. I've used the original stamps but they are only available now as digital stamps. The sentiments are from MFT.
Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulous inspiration from our surprise party guests and the Design Team, and join in the fun. If you really don't want to make a matching tag (but I think you should, it's fun transferring and adapting the design to a different substrate) you can always play along with our Anything Goes, as long as it's birthday-themed.

Visible Image - Balloon Shaker Card
Hello peeps! I recently made a shaker card for the Visible Image new release launch, so I thought I'd make another for my Design Team post. One of the things I learned from my last shaker card was to ensure enough depth between the acetate and the card base to allow the sequins/beads to move around.
So, having bought some thicker foam tape, off I set with this version.
For the background, using the Birthday Balloons die set, I diecut some balloon shapes from copy paper to use as masks, and sponged Distress Oxides through, using one mask per colour. This would have worked equally well by using the Birthday Balloons stamps and just stamping the balloons, but I wanted to do it my way!
Once all the balloons were sponged, I stamped some stars as fillers.
Then I set about creating the acetate frame.
I edged the acetate with washi tape, then mitred the corners with a craft knife.
Then removed the excess triangle from each end of the washi tape.
A layer of thick foam tape went onto the back of the acetate, covered up by the washi on the front. You can see I've also stamped the sentiment in the centre of the panel.
Then out came the sequin box.
Once it was all stuck in place I gave it a shuffle to make sure it all worked!
Pop on over to the Visible Image store for this set and many more!

Visible Image - Blow Out The Candles
Hey, Visible Image fans! I hope you caught the launch of the new release on Hobbymaker TV last week. There are some fabulous new stamps, dies and stencils, and also coordinating dies for the Blow Out The Candles stamp set.
For my card I stamped and coloured a lemon spongecake, using varying shades of yellow Distress inks.
I needed plenty of candles for this effect! I coloured them using Zig Clean Colour brush pens.
They all needed cutting out, and the new dies did the job.
I wanted to make the candles look as if they were being blown right off the cake so I just worked with the flickering candle so that I could angle them, and the Radiate stencil was perfect for the look.
The background paper is watercoloured using Distress Mica Stains, so there's a subtle sheen to it. I positioned the cake and sentiment to check everything would fit, then stencilled Distress Oxides through.
Then it was just a case of stamping the sentiment and attaching all the candles to the cake. I adhered some to the front and some to the back of the cake for depth, and one being blown right off!
You can see a bit of the sheen on the background in this close-up.

Seize The Birthday - Splatter
Hi, it's time for a new Seize The Birthday challenge, brought to us by Glenda, and it's Splatter. I love me some splatter!
I was quite light-handed with the splatter this time, just adding tiny splatter to the Concord & 9th You Are Loved image. The stamped and diecut sentiment is from The Stamp Market.
Pop on over to the Seize The Birthday blog for some more fabulous inspiration from the design team and our surprise party guests, and play along with us. If you're not into splatters, you cn still play along with any birthday-themed project.

Visible Image - Teatime
Some woodgrain washi tape from my extensive stash was ideal for industrial style shelving against my green subway tiles. I stuck it onto strips of white card for stability, then used double sided tape to add it to the panel.
